I'm trying to save my chickens from an army of octopuses and suddenly I'm fighting shooting stars on the moon?

And why is the boss a giant chicken with an octopus on its tongue?

I know this is an alpha version and so I should expect plenty of problems, but I wanna make sure you know you need to make a way to skip through text scrolling while still allowing the player to read the text. That is to say, either you should get rid of text scrolling entirely and have the whole text appear instantly, or you should make the next button make the text finish scrolling if it hasn't already, and only skip to the next bit of text if it has finished scrolling.

At least you have an option to skip text, unlike Skyward Sword.

Immudelki responds:

that has been fixed for the full version (still in the works), thanks for report ;)

Great graphics, great music, but it's ultimately a grinding game and so it's inherently unfun.

It kind of reminds me of Trigger Knight but less strategic and creative and unique.

You clearly only had to program so much and then let the game grow itself, so there's really not much point in playing past the first dragon encounter. There aren't any better loot items than the 25-point crystals. I managed to upgrade my attack all the way and you can just keep upgrading it and it'll stay on the same level. I'm a little curious to see if you can upgrade your critical past 100%, but not enough to do it.

VaragtP responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I am trying to think of ways to make it more strategic! You can in theory upgrade forever, the stats are still increasing past the max. I left that intentionally since I personally think its fun when there is no real level cap.

Needs to be a way to pause.

Good thing you made the timer account for lag, since there's a lot of lag on my computer. Should've given an option to turn off particle effects, though.

Really nice and simple idea for a game.

Zanzlanz responds:

Good idea about particles options! I'm sure that would help a lot.
I just added a quality option for you. ;)
Press Q to toggle particles/quality.

There needs to be a way to speed through text. Desperately.

You can walk on the top of the screen. I presume this is a glitch.

Also, on one screen I managed to jump down to the platform below and then jump back to the screen before, underneath the entrance. And then I was walking inside a wall. It was crazy.

It let me find the Thespian twice and now I have 18/18 beards found but I'm missing the Souvarov medal.

I have a few hints:
Don't bother upgrading grandma too much. He'll pick up the gems eventually no matter what.
Don't upgrade granny's stamina beyond your own stamina. There's no point in having the bar recharge faster than you can deplete it.
The final $90000 upgrades may not be worth your while. That's nearly a quarter the cost of the game-winning upgrade. There may not be time for your investment to pay off. I don't know the actual definite values of how much the upgrades upgrade you so that's why I'm using uncertain terms here.

This is a lot like some John Cooney games where you just keep upgrading your ability to collect money. It's kind of boring and pointless. There's no real challenge.

Also, this game pretty much has nothing to do with abduction.

Terrible art. Terrible music. Terrible level design. It's so bad it's... kind of charming.

Anyway, not bad for a Ludum Dare game.

Nyaarg.
