Is this the first game in the series that doesn't involve going through some kind of portal into another version of the room?

You know, if you wanna make a Contra tribute, it's okay to just keep the good parts and leave out the bad parts.
There are no credits, so I hope this is made by Denis Vasilev who made Puzzle Tower which this game is ripping off.
Also, why so glitched? As soon as I click play, I'm taken to the level select where every level is unlocked with three stars automatically. I beat level 15 and it took me to level 16, but there's no way to see past level 15 in the level select.
The cutscene at the top of the second level glitched. I get up there and it makes me automatically run off the edge of the screen. I thought it was making me beat the level, and I was mad that it wouldn't let me go back and get the secret. But then the two thugs started getting chopped up by something invisible. I guess that was supposed to be me.
The most annoying thing with the controls is the uncancelable ledge animations. Sometimes I just walk up to a ledge and I don't want to climb on top of it, but then I have to wait for this whole climbing animation.
Also, since your sword activates door controls, sometimes you get locked into the unlock animation in the middle of a fight.
Okay, it's a nice Madness-style animation of course. But if you were going for something like Stealing the Diamond, you screwed up with your checkpoint system. If we're supposed to see every outcome, why are the checkpoints so sparse? That makes us have to redo so many things after every death. On the other hand, if we're supposed to try to win, why are the outcomes so unpredictable? The game is completely unfair when viewed like that.
The boxes are so hard to click in time. I cheated by using the tab/space trick, and I was still dying all the time.
Also, it's often unclear just what choice the game thinks you made. Sometimes I think I clicked just in time when I actually didn't and then I die, so then I assume what I'm supposed to do is wait without clicking, and then I die the same way again.
You still say "fanny pack" in the UK?
So uncle Phil wants you to help him but doesn't give you the password to the toolbox? And you paid for a satellite dish to get delivered but they didn't even give you the combination to open the package? And not one person on the island will give you a dollar to call your freaking mother?
Checkpoints, please.
This game is too short to have checkpoints :D
